OUTDOCS's primary aims were to explore the fields of outdoor documentaries' content creations and developments. Later, it become one for the most popular gatherings of the outdoorsy people all around the world. In 2018, the first outdoor carnival was at the Guangzhou International Media Harbor. In 2019, OUTDOC launched its first competition on a global scale, collecting 993 submissions from 88 countries and regions.
